The Pilatus PC-12 aircraft for sale is a passenger and cargo aircraft produced by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland. It is a direct competitor to the Beechcraft King Air 200 and was announced in October 1989. It flew for the first time on May 31, 1991.
Integrating a single turboprop engine into an aerodynamically advanced airframe, the Pilatus PC-12 exhibits great reliability and combines excellent economy with safety. The majority of the PC-12s are used as corporate airplanes, although an increasing number are being used for regional passenger transport due to regulatory changes in many countries that permit single engine turboprops to be engaged in these functions. This success has opened up a new potential market for the PC-12 as a regional airliner.
A single Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67B turboprop engine powers the PC-12. The aircraft has a cruising speed of 274.8 mph and a range of 1,513 to 2,239 nautical miles depending on the cabin configuration. The service ceiling is 30,000 ft. The fuselage measures 47 ft 3 in length, has a 53 ft 3 in wingspan and a height of 14 ft height. The empty weight is 5,867 lb and the max takeoff weight is 10,450 lb.
Compared to the Beechcraft King Air 200 aircraft, the PC-12′s most significant design feature is the use of a single turboprop engine. Additionally, the PC-12′s cabin is longer and wider, and the cockpit features EFIS displays. The aircraft is also certificated for single pilot operation while each PC-12 built features a standard cargo door in the rear fuselage.
This aircraft supports several cabin configurations such as: a standard 9 passenger lay out, an executive/corporate configuration of 6 to 8 passengers, a combined 4 passenger and freight set up, and the all-cargo transport configuration. The crew ranges from one to two pilots.
Two main versions of the original PC-12 are well known, the PC-12M and the U-28A of the USAF.The PC-12M is known in the United States as the PC-12 Spectre. It is equipped with a number of upgraded features to increase its operational range. This version is fitted with a more powerful electrical generation system to enable the integration of additional power-consuming equipment. This enables the PC-12M to perform special mission tasks such as flight inspection, air ambulance, parachutist dropping, aerial photography and aerial surveillance.
The U-28A is the US Air Force variant of the PC-12, and was selected due to its versatility, translated in an inherent ability to operate from short and unimproved runway surfaces. This model, like the original PC-12, is certified to land on dirt and grass strips. The PC-12′s operating efficiency and reliability have allowed it to not only thrive in a market once dominated by the King Air, but has allowed it to open new markets.
