Description

The Grumman Turbine Goose is an American seven-seat twin-engine amphibious aircraft designed and built by Grumman Aircraft. It was introduced in 1939, and is considered to be the first successful commercial turboprop aircraft. The Turbine Goose was powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-985 radial engines that drove propellers via an extension shaft and gearbox. The aircraft could land on either water or land, and was used for passenger and freight transport, as well as search and rescue and reconnaissance missions. It was also used by the U.S. Navy during World War II. A total of 77 Turbine Gooses were produced before production ceased in 1945.
