2001 Fairchild Dornier 328JET
Description
The Fairchild Dornier 328JET is a turboprop-powered regional airliner that was manufactured by Fairchild Dornier in Germany from 1998 to 2003. The aircraft was designed to be a modern, larger capacity substitute for the Dornier 328 turboprop. It is a stretched version of the Dornier 328 and has a pressurized cabin, allowing it to fly at higher altitudes. The aircraft has a seating capacity of up to 33 passengers and is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306B turbofan engines. The aircraft was designed to be more economical than other regional jets and was also designed to be more reliable, with fewer maintenance requirements. The aircraft features a high-tech avionics suite and advanced Flight Management System, as well as a modern airframe with composite materials. The aircraft was popular with regional airlines, but due to the bankruptcy of Fairchild Dornier, only 85 aircraft were produced before production ceased.
