Description

The BD-5 is a single-seat homebuilt aircraft, designed and produced by Bede Aircraft in the 1970s. The BD-5J is a variant of the BD-5 that features a jet engine in place of the original piston engine. The BD-5J is a very small aircraft, with a wingspan of just under 17 feet and a length of about 14 feet. It was marketed as an easy-to-build kit plane and was popular among hobbyist pilots. However, the BD-5J has also gained some notoriety due to several high-profile accidents and incidents involving the aircraft.
