Description

The Gulfstream III is a business jet manufactured by Gulfstream Aerospace. It was the first business jet to be equipped with a glass cockpit. It was the second business jet developed by Gulfstream, following the Gulfstream II. It was first flown on 2 December 1979 and production ended in 1985. A total of 204 aircraft were built.
The Gulfstream III was powered by two Rolls-Royce Spey 511-8 turbofans, each producing 13,850 pounds of thrust. It could seat up to 12 passengers, and had a maximum range of 4,200 nautical miles. The aircraft had a maximum speed of Mach 0.88, and could climb to 41,000 feet.
The Gulfstream III was used by a variety of civilian and military customers. It was used by corporate customers, charter operators, and governments around the world. Several aircraft were modified for use in the medical evacuation and special missions roles.
The aircraft has since been replaced by newer models, such as the Gulfstream G550.
