Piper PA-16 Clipper for Sale — Four-Seat Vagabond
The Piper PA-16 Clipper is the four-seat version of the Vagabond concept — taking the PA-15's economy philosophy and extending the cabin to accommodate four occupants in a side-by-side front and rear bench configuration. The PA-16's Lycoming O-235 engine at 115 horsepower provided adequate power for the four-seat mission in a fabric-covered high-wing airframe that kept weight and cost low enough to remain competitive in the price-sensitive immediate postwar market. The Clipper name distinguished the four-seat variant from the two-seat PA-15 Vagabond while sharing the same fundamental design philosophy of accessible personal aviation at minimum cost. Like the PA-15, the PA-16 was produced in limited numbers from 1948 to 1951 and is now uncommon in the market.
