Description

The Cessna O-2B Super Skymaster is a twin-engine military observation and forward air control (FAC) aircraft. It was developed in 1967 as a replacement for the O-1 Bird Dog. The O-2B is a high-wing, twin-boom, push-pull aircraft powered by two Continental IO-360-A engines. It has a crew of two, a pilot and an observer/navigator. The aircraft is equipped with a variety of sensors and communications equipment for its mission, which includes reconnaissance, target acquisition, artillery spotting, and close air support of ground forces. The O-2B was used extensively during the Vietnam War, and remained in service until the 1990s.
