Description

The Cessna O-2 Skymaster is a military version of the Cessna 337 Super Skymaster developed in the late 1960s. It was developed as a forward air control (FAC) aircraft with a crew of two to locate and mark targets for strike aircraft. It was used by the United States Air Force (USAF), United States Navy (USN), and the South Vietnamese Air Force during the Vietnam War. The South Vietnamese Air Force used the O-2 in an effort to gain greater control over the countryside. The O-2 was also used by the United States Air Force for reconnaissance and observation missions. The O-2 was replaced by the OV-10 Bronco in the early 1970s.
