1979 Twin Commander 690B
Description
The Twin Commander 690B is a twin-engine, light business aircraft developed by Twin Commander Aircraft in the early 1970s. The 690B was an improved version of the 690A, which first flew in 1971. The 690B was introduced in 1974 and featured more powerful engines, improved cabin soundproofing, and better avionics. The 690B was the first production aircraft to be fitted with a glass cockpit. The aircraft could seat up to eight passengers, along with the two pilots in the cockpit. The 690B was powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-60A turboprop engines, each producing 850 shp. The aircraft had a maximum speed of 285 knots and a range of 1,800 miles. The 690B was also capable of operating from short runways and had a service ceiling of 25,000 feet. The aircraft was eventually replaced by the more advanced Twin Commander 690C in the late 1980s.
