1971 Bell OH-58A+ Kiowa
Description
The Bell OH-58A+ Kiowa is an armed reconnaissance helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter. It was developed from the Bell OH-58 Kiowa, with the A+ designation referring to the new avionics package installed on the aircraft. It first flew in 1974 and entered service with the US Army in 1977. The Kiowa is used primarily for reconnaissance, surveillance, and Target Acquisition (RSTA) missions. It is equipped with a variety of sensors, including Forward-Looking Infrared (FLIR), a laser rangefinder, and a digital moving target indicator (DMTI). It is also armed with Hellfire missiles, Hydra 70 rockets, and 7.62 mm machine guns. It has a maximum speed of 115 knots and a range of over 200 miles. The Kiowa is still in service with the US Army and other militaries around the world.
